BP oil spill opening a new market for emergency response?

British Petroleum (BP) oil leak from one of its rigs in the gulf has been cited by many as one of the worst ecological disasters in our nations history. The last few months of this disaster has drawn scrutiny and criticism from the public as well as investigations from the government into protocol. From this disaster companies in the energy filed everywhere have realized the importance of safety and the durability of equipment in the field.

BP is set to finally kill the well on Sept 6, but concerns over their blow out preventer have arisen, because of how delicate the current barrier blocking the majority of oil leaking into the ocean. Hence there is a need for a new, stronger blow-out preventer, a valve designed to prevent future explosions of wells. Our industry is in need of an efficient supplier of emergency response equipment geared towards major disasters such as the gulf spill or tanker spills.
